Le modafinil est considГ©rГ© comme un stimulant du systГЁme nerveux central (SNC) et agit en bloquant les rГ©cepteurs inhibiteurs de l'histamine qui se trouvent au niveau des terminaisons nerveuses du cerveau et de la moelle Г©piniГЁre. Modafinil 200 mg est utilisГ© dans les cas oГ№ l'insomnie est modГ©rГ©e et n'affecte que lГ©gГЁrement la fonction quotidienne. La FDA a mis en garde contre le risque d'un "rГ©sultat indГ©sirable potentiel Г long terme pour la santГ©", y compris la dГ©pendance. Il peut ГЄtre pris par voie orale, sous forme de pilule ou sous forme injectable. Le modafinil est un agoniste des rГ©cepteurs alpha-1, qui amГ©liore l'activitГ© du neurotransmetteur dopamine dans le cerveau, produisant une augmentation de la production et de la libГ©ration de noradrГ©naline. La cause de la narcolepsie est encore Г l'Г©tude, mais le trouble peut impliquer un manque d'adГ©nosine neuromodulatrice dans le cerveau.
